Use a XP pro for file server. Total of 5 computers. Not using simple file
shareing on XP Pro file server. Office personal carried in their home
computers to use at the office. They had a network at home sharing files.
Created users in the XP Pro computer then created the same user and password
in the XP Home computers that came from employes home. Removed the user name
that they used at home. Made sure the workgroup name matched. Made shared
folders on server for users to connect to and made sure the user names were
included in the properties for sharing. Yes, the computers were restarted
several times.

Problem :

The ex home (XP home) computer can see the shared folder but can not login.
When at the server I check to see who is connected I see the removed user
name that was on the XP home computer as the user. This user has been deleted
from the XP Home computer but the server thinks the deleted user is trying to
connect. The computer name of the XP home is correct.

The only way I can get the XP home computer to connect is the make a user on
the server the name of the missing user the XP home computer. Then at the XP
home computer connect and map the drive to the server as a the nonexisting
user.

What is causing the computer to try to connect to server with a deleted user?

Thank You for any help
