- 43.51 WQHL crash crash

Watch out!
Couldn't figure out why the 3D Windows XP screensaver stopped working, and
would even crash the system if attempting to use this screen saver! Finally
figured out that it was Nvidia driver version 43.51 WQHL (from windows
update) that caused the problem. I upgraded the driver to nvidia 44.71,
still the same problem. FINALLY when I upgraded to nvidia driver version
45.23 the problem went away!
Here is another symptom of the problem: On my system (Pentium 4,
Quadro4-750XGL) Directx9 failed every Direct3D test in dxdiag with Nvidia
drivers version 43.51WQHL (from windows update) and 44.71 (from nvidia).
Upgrading to nvidia driver version 45.23 (from nvidia) fixed both the
Direct3D and 3D screensaver problems!
STOP RELEASING CRAP DRIVER, BOTH OF YOU!

Perhaps that's because those drivers were released *before* DirectX9 and
are not compatible with DirectX9......
I would hazard a guess that real reason for your problems is that you
were trying to use old Nvidia drivers, rather than them being badly
written.....
