- activeX problem
- Posted by TK on July 14th, 2003
I have a dialog box that pops up while trying to run
windows update. The following appears: "Your current
security settings prohibit running ActiveX controls on
this page. As a result the page may not display
correctly."
We have tried to "enable" ActiveX related settings in the
IE security settings and we have also tried to set all IE
security settings to LOW, but the message dialog still
appears.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Do you have an anti-spyware program running in the background that might
be blocking activex?
I had a very difficult problem getting Windows Update to load a few
weeks ago that I discovered was due to my ad blocker blocking delayed
popups. Something on that WU start page looked like a delayed popup.
Spyware blockers do the same kind of silent blocking on activex and java
that can drive you nuts.
