I can't access my secure sites ie work, school, even
microsoft updates. The cannot find server message always
comes up. I can surf regular internet sites, just not
password required sites. Computer repeatedly tells me to
change my browser settings. Been there done that....which
one is "the one" to change?

Signed,

Thoroughly frustrated.

from http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=813444

try this first

1.. Click Start, and then click Run.
2.. In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
3.. At the command prompt, type the following lines and press ENTER after
each line:
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll

4.. Click OK when you receive the message that DllRegisterServer in
FileName succeeded.
5.. Type exit to quit Command Prompt.
