Applying Archived Win 98 Updates
Posted by Nicole W on March 3rd, 2004

Hi there!

I am using a Windows98 SE computer. Understanding that
Microsoft no longer supports Windows 98 as of Jan 2004, I
have archived several security updates recomended by
Windows Update from the Windows Update Catalog.

If I ever need to reload windows 98 I would like to
reinstall these updates but I do not know how.

Am I required to install them in some chronological order
or sequence? Can I install them all at once, or do I
have to install them one at a time and reboot after each
install? Is there some kind of installation tool that I
must use to install them? What happens if I install an
earlier version of an update after installing the later
version?

I would greatly appreciate if someone would let me know
how to do this or where I could find information about
this.

Thanks!

Microsoft has made a CD available with all the updates as of Oct. 2003 for free.
