Attachments won't open in Outlook Express 6

Since installing the latest "security updates" last week,
I can no longer open attachments in Outlook Express 6.
The click on the 'open' command causes Outlook Express to
close. Any help?

Tools, Options, Security Tab, uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved
or opened that could potentially be a virus"
