While searching for something else I ran across this...
Knowledge Base Article - 822798
To rename the Edb.log file, follow these steps:
Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2\Edb.log *.tst
hth... DD
