Critical Update Woes

When I try to install the 2 critical update files:

Security Update for Microsoft Windows 2000 (KB826232)
Security Update for Microsoft Windows (KB824141)

They download fine, but it hangs for a while on the
install and ultimately reports failure and suggests I try
again... and again...

Any Ideas?

Hi Xeno,

What's the failure message? What operating system?
Try downloading and installing the updates from TechNet site, any change?

Hello,
I have the same problem on half of the systems I have
here. When I download and run the file KB826232 from the
location you mention I get the following error.

KB826232 Setup could not backup registry key
HKCR\TSHOOT.TSHOOTCtrl.1\CLSID
to file c:\WINNT\$NTUninstallKB826232$\reg00004. 1314: A
required priviledge is not held by the client.

I am logged on as administrator when running this.

Thanks
Keith

I forgot to mention that this is happening on Windows 2000
server, Windows XP, Windows 2000 Pro. It seemed to have
installed fine on on some of the systems I have but is
failing on about a half dozen of them.
I tried it logged on as the local Administrator, Domain
Administrator, and Enterprise Administrator.

One system I am having problems with is a fresh install of
Windows 2000 Pro with nothing else installed except
Symantec Antivirus Corporate version 8.0 and no changes to
the system config. I've disabled NAV and tried but no
such luck.

Thanks
Keith
