- Current Updates (14/2/04) - disables "Help" system
- Posted by Stewart Rotherham on February 15th, 2004
I spent a couple of hours downloading and installing the
latest security updates for XP Pro (already running SP1a
etc) yesterday, and am now left with some irritating
problems -
1 - I can't access the Windows help system.
2 - I can't access the system restore point information.
3 - One of the machine's other users only boots to screen
wallpaper, with no control bar or icons. (My own ID
works OK).
For infomation, the system is a 1000MHz PIII, with 256Mb
memory and 80 Gb disc (50% empty).
Has anybody else had these problems, and more
importantly, found a fix for any of them?

Hi Stewart,
Are you able to restore XP to the previous state before the updates? We
need to determine what updates caused the problems, If you can revert back
then install the updates one at a time.
