If you are using AOL as your ISP, you need to minimize your
AOL browser and launch Internet Explorer, then visit the Windows
Update web site while using Internet Explorer.

Try the following solution from the Windows Update Troubleshooter:
http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/troubleshoot/

Select:
"Problem Downloading/Installing a Software (Non-Driver) item"

Follow steps under:
"Install stops at 0% when using the AOL Browser"

While using the Internet Explorer browser, try downloading
and updates again: http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.com/en/default.asp

| I was able to download the updates to be installed on
| my '99 Dell, and saw "download progress" was completed --
| However, below that area, there was no progress displayed
| in the "Install Progress" area. The dialog box just hangs
| there and never closes. Later when I click the "cancel"
| button or the "X" at upper right, it says that if I do
| cancel or close the box, "installation will fail." Help
| please. Thanks.
