My system automatically looks for and downloads updates.
Yesterday it downloaded the Modem Driver update called
ESS Technology - Modems, ESS Modem Drivers Released on
Mar 24, 2003, 330KB, and I installed it. Since then my
modem has been operating in the 36-46KBps range when I
log on. Prior to that, it operated at 115KBps with an
occasional 56KBps log on. Never in the 30s or 40s. I
could hardly do anything on the internet. I called my
ISP provider and they were not able to help me. There
was not an "Uninstall" feature for this update that I
could find but, I was able to locate and do the "Roll
Back" feature under the modem driver tab in the Sysyems
folder. This happened again today too and I rolled it
back again. Everytime I log in my computer does back out
and downloads it and it asks if I want to install it or
be reminded later.
Why is my system slowing down to 30-40KBps when this
update is installed? What can I do please?
