Finding DLLs
Posted by Makó László on February 26th, 2004

Try to search on
http://support.microsoft.com/default...on/dllinfo.asp .
Choose the version, that you need, and click More Information to view wich
program or Service Pack contains the file.

Have Luck,
L.

I posted concerning the fact I can't run window update yesterday. No one has
responded to
my post so I need to go it alone. I need to fond a updated dll and I'm not
sure where to find it.
The dll is RPCRT4.DLL I need a later version.
Any help will be appreciated.
I also need help with Wscript. It seems it is preventing me from running
Windows Update.

Thanks,
James

Thanks for the fast reply.
Because of this problem or some other problem I am unable to follow links by
clicking
on them. I needed to copy and paste the link you provided into the address
box. I
found the file (RPCRT4.DLL version 5.2.3790.63) but when I clicked 'More
Information'
only an empty browser window opened.
Any way to get this file without having to follow links in this manner.

Thanks again,
James

I'm getting to the point where fdisk would be much less frustrating.

James,

The latest version of the rpcrt4.dll is 5.1.2600.1106.
The version 5.2...etc is made for Windows 2003 Server.

Info about the latest correct version for Windows XP see below:

Name: rpcrt4.dll
Description: Remote Procedure Call Runtime
Version: 5.1.2600.1106
DLLSelfRegister: Yes

Windows XP SP1 contains the file. The size of the dll is 530,432

So you must install XP SP1, to update the file. If you already installed the
Service Pack, download install file of it, or copy it from a CD, end extract
it to a Local Folder [xpsp1.exe /x]. Then locate the dll file, change your
old one (create a copy from your old dll to another folder!) to the new one,
and go START > RUN > ' regsvr32 "C:\WINNT\SYSTEM32\rpcrt4.dll" '. This will
reregister your dll. file. (The new one in this case.)

Have Luck,
L.
