Frozen at "Checking for the latest version of the Windows Update software."
Posted by George I. on September 21st, 2003

For some reason, even with no Firewalls on and all Active-
X, Cookies, etc. enabled in IE, on Windows XP Home I
cannot even get the program to scan for Windows
Updates... I just get the message "Checking for the
latest version of the Windows Update software." For some
reason, it seems that it may think I haven't downloaded
the Windows Update thing for IE? I HAVE already installed
the iuctl.cab file and enabled the 5 windowsupdate http's
and https' as Trusted Sites in Internet Options..., but
have not been able to resolve the issue. I have found I
can use the Automatic Updates, but I would like to use
Windows Update website... Please help, I own many new
computers with Windows XP Home & Professional and have not
had any problem like this. Please help.
