Has anyone had a similar problem with the security
updates. I continue to get an update reminder for the
security update ( 832894... I have it memorized by now).
I download and install, but when I open the
<Help\About\... > it doesn't show... AND I keep getting
the notice of a "Critical Update".

Try downloading from the catalog and then installing (make sure you pick the
right IE version of this patch). If you're not familiar with using the
catalog see http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=323166.
