- Installed patch via Win Update but keep getting re-notified about it
- Posted by Frank Z. on January 30th, 2004
Hi,
I installed the security patch kb832483 (MS Data Access Components), but Windows Update keep
sending new notifications telling me that it is available for download. I've gone through the install several time
using both the "automatic" and "web download" methods. The download and install seems to complete, but it's no
being recorded on my system. I look at the "add/remove" programs applet where I can see other patches that have bee
applied but this patch is not recocognized as having been installed. Note: Win2k Pro SP4 with all other critical patche
installed.
Please Help, Thanks, Frank

FYI , I found the answer in an older post. Just thought someone else might like to hear the answer.
For kb832483 (MS Data access Components patch) to install, it requires that MDAC (a recent version),
be already installed on the machine. I downloaded MS MDAC 2.8, re-ran the WU for kb832483, re-booted
and it worked ! No more notifications telling me that the patch was available for download.
Thanks and Goodluck, F.
