Java error, no Accept button
Posted by Norman Hines on September 1st, 2003

Upgrade Windows 98.
Java error on legal dialog box.
Accept button greyed out, cannot download.
What do I have to set/clear to fix this?

Correction: EULA Button Greyed out/Script Error applies to
Windows 98, yet solution does not work.

Good question. I have same problem. Jave error at line 2
character 1, Object does not suppport this method, or
something like that. EULA has accept button grayed out.
Also under Win98, IE6.0

There are two ways to get to the same screen. After you
have choosen your updates, there is a link at the top of
the frame with a green XP arrow that says "Review and
Install Updates" that runs a java script: DONT USE IT. On
the left-hand frame is an itemized list with one square
radio button that also says "Review and Install Updates"
that links to a new page: Use this hyperlink.

I need to modify my instructions. After following my own
instructions, the error continued. So following from
below ... I then clicked on the "Get Help and Support"
link and opened the "Windows Update Trouble Shooter"
(which opened in a new window). I left the window opened
and tabbed back over to the main window. I selected
the "Review and Install Updates" again and the Install
button worked.

Totally weird, but this solution does work.

Thanks!

No dice. Installed this, but accept button is still greyed
out. I followed Bea's advice above, and while totally
bizzare, that worked.
