Wish to keep the downloaded files from Windows Update on
my harddisk. In case of reinstalling the system I need to
download it again from Internet and that consumes a lot of
time.
Any suggestion how to solve it?

Just went through recent posts and found what I needed.
For the others pleasure I write what I have explored:
On the main Windows Update page find Windows Update
Catalog link. If it is not found (my case) set it in
Individual setting link. Then select OS and updates to
download and enjoy your speed line.
