Nicholas, I can't find msconfig.exe on my Win2000 system
Posted by Ron Stewart on August 14th, 2003

I want to try Nicholas' standard solution set, but step 2
wants me to run msconfig, which doesn't exist on my
Windows 2000 system.

Also, in step 3, services, there is no cryptographic
services tab.

Pretty hard to proceed.

Symptom: After I accept the EULA, a download progress
window pops up briefly, then the installation failed
screen pops up. Windows update log says: Error 0x80070002:
The system cannot find the file specified.

Ron --

Go directly to this website, download and install the patch:

Blaster Worm: Critical Security Patch for Windows 2000
http://microsoft.com/downloads/detai...displaylang=en

Note: If you happen to be using AOL, then minimize the AOL browser,
launch Internet Explorer, and use Internet Explorer to download
and install the patch.

Got it. The key is to figure out a way to download each
update individual;ly, and then install them individually.
Usually you can figure out where to download by clicking
on More Info at the end of the description of each
suggested update.

Thanks Nicholas, for putting me on the right track.

Ron
