Getting to Update is becoming a very capricious endeavor. I followed the
instructions (to the letter, mind you) in KB 319585 about deleting the
update software, and was able to access the Update page after that.
Downloaded/installed the current cumulative IE update, rebooted. Immediately
went back to Update and got that damn "Thank you for your interest..." page
again.

Re-applied the fix. This time it didn't take; I was still being thanked for
my interest (which was now starting to wane...). Closed out of IE,
re-opened, went to the Update site, and, lo and behold, there it was,
begging to do its scan. Closed the browser once again, did some other
things, and, now, just to check, went back to Update and, whaddya know, I'm
being thanked again.

My update.log shows everything to be successful; my current version is
5.4.3630.2550.

This is really getting old. Any help?
