- RUNDLL32 error applying security updates for MS 98SE

Hi,
Just tried to install 3 critical security updates for MS
98SE and get RUNDLL32 error which says 'This program has
performed and illegal operation and will be shut down. If
the problem persists, contact the program vendor'. In the
details box it says 'RUNDLL32 caused a general protection
fault
in module USER.EXE at 0003:00009e9c.

Hello Pete,
Take a look at C:\Windows\Windows Update.log. If there are any errors
listed toward the end of this file, please post the relevant lines here.

Hi Chuck,
As requested please see the log posted below for when i
ran the update on the 19th July and also today. I get the
RUNDLL32 error message as described in the previous post,
any suggestions or help are very much appreciated that

Pete,
Can you try the updates one at a time and see if it is one particular update
that is causing the problem or if it happens regardless of which update is
being installed.
