Same update twice
Posted by Bob on August 3rd, 2003

I updated the "Security Update, Feburary 13, 2002
(MSXML.4.0)and when I came back to see if I had any more
updates the Securtiy Update was still in the critical list
so I downloaded it again. Now I have 2 of the same updates
that I do not need and it is still on my critical list.
What can I do about this?

Bob,

Thanks for posting. What operating system are you running? The update
requires Microsoft Installer 2.0 please check the file version for file
MSI.dll it must be at least 2.0, if not you can update from below:

Windows NT/2000;
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...eleaseID=32832

Windows Me/9x
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...eleaseID=32831

If the problem persists, check to verify the following key exists in the
registry:

================================================== =======
WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall Windows <95, 98, NT, 2000, XP>. Microsoft
cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry
Editor can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

================================================== ==========

1. Click "Start," and then click "Run."
2. In the Open box type regedit and click "OK."
3. Browse in the left frame to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\MSXM L4\Q317244
4. In the right frame you should see: "IsInstalled"=hex:01,00,00,00
