- Saving WIndows updates as files
- Posted by MrC on March 4th, 2004
Does anyone know how you get the windows updates to
download as files rather than just installing ?
If there files I can save them and save time re
downloading, if I reload Windows in the future ?
Thanks

Go to Windows Update, see what it tells you are needed, note the filenames,
then go to Windows Update Catalog (linked on the Windows Update Page) and
download those files and save them. This is also useful if you have more
than one computer.

Hi
Take a look at this post on what you at least should download and
how to install on a Windows XP computer:

If you want to download other updates than the ones listed in the
link above for later installs on same or another computer, you can
use the Windows Update Catalog:
HOW TO: Download Windows Updates and Drivers from the Windows Update Catalog

You might want this one as well for future use:
The free Windows Security Update CD can be ordered from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/security/protect/cd/order.asp
The CD includes Microsoft critical updates released through October 2003
(and SP4 for Windows 2000 / SP1 for Windows XP) as well as information
to help you protect your PC.
Supports Windows XP, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows 98, and
Windows 98 Second Edition (SE).
