SUSS Server in Windows NT 4.0 domain
Posted by anakinhk on October 29th, 2003

I would like to deploy hotfixes by SUSS under Windows NT 4.0 domain. I don't have AD up to now. Any comment?

I have set up a SUSS Server on Windows 2000 Server but i don't know how to config the Windows 2000 and XP Client.

Hi

See the chapter "Configuration Options in a Non-Active Directory Environment" in the Software Update Services
Deployment White Paper (SUS_Deployguide_sp1.doc) for what registry values you need to set (it will work even if the
computer is in a AD domain). Download link found under "More Information" at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserv...s/default.mspx

Some info here as well:

Fyi, there is a separate newsgroup for SUS:

microsoft.public.softwareupdatesvcs

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...wareupdatesvcs

URL to the group softwareupdatesvcs for those who uses the not so good Web
interface to access the newsgroups:

A Web site about SUS with a FAQ and a SUS forum:
