TCP error after IE 6 SP 1 update
Posted by Shelagh on March 2nd, 2004

Since the successful installation of of the Cumulative
Security Update for Internet Explorer 6 Service Pack 1 (KB
832894) on Monday, February 2, 2004, I have been getting a
popup error message saying "Unable to connect to the
network. TCP error: Out of memory" after being on the
Internet for 15-20 minutes using Netscape Mail, Netscape
4.8 browser or IE 6. At this point all access to the
Internet via my DSL connection is stopped. In order to
restore access to the Internet, I have to reboot the
computer (Windows 98 SE) each time the error occurs. I
even uninstalled my dialup networking in Communications
but to no avail. A day or two before the Security Update
installation, I upgraded from McAfee anti-virus retail
Version 7 to retail Version 8.0. It is working flawlessly.
Has anyone else had this particular error problem? One
other oddity - Feb 27 or 28th I received a popup McAfee
warning saying it had deleted a virus called Bt.ow/btg in
the file index.dat There's no record of this virus
anywhere. Thanks!
