- Trouble updating Windows 98
- Posted by TJ on March 6th, 2004
I have Windows 98, and I am trying to install
Word. A message comes up that the minimun
requirement is Windows 98 Second Edition. I
have attempted many times to update it through
the Microsoft site. The requested items will
download, but it will not install. The "view
history" screen shows a long string of status:
Failed. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
In summary, I'm trying to update to Windows 98
Second Edition.
Thanks, TJ

You don't need to upgrade to a non-supported (limited) Windows version
If you want Word, then Works 2004 includes Word 2002. According to the minimum system requires, Windows 98 is okay

Buying Works 2004 is cheaper than just buying an old (if still available) Word 2002 box set.
