- Trying to add a printer

I'm adding a printer...I have USB ports. The ports show
up on as being installed and they work because I have a
cam.
When I go to "add a printer" I select the manufacturer
and printer but the choice of ports at that point only
shows "com or lpt" it does not give me the option to
choose the USB. What can be the problem?

With a USB printer, you need to install the software from the manufacturer's
website and only connect the printer when it tells you to do so.

installing the maker's drivers and software, then you need to disconnect it
and, if you're using WinXP, you probably should go back to a restore point
made before you attached the printer. (Hopefully you have one.)
