Manually install the latest Windows Update controls:

For Windows 98 and Windows Millenium Edition:

Download the controls from http://v4.windowsupdate.microsoft.co...ansi/iuctl.cab and
save them to your desktop. Extract the .cab file, following the steps below:

1. Go to the desktop and right click the iuctl.cab file.
2. Click "Extract to."
3. Point to a known location (like the desktop) and click "OK."
4. Go to the location you selected and right click on the iuctl.inf file.
5. Click "Install."

Shawn;
1. Delete the downloaded file.

2. Go to Internet Options in the Control Panel:
3. Delete Cookies
4. Delete Files (check box "Delete all offline content")
5. Clear History

6. Download again and repeat procedure.

Otherwise repeat steps 1-5 and try it from this link:

That's because this person, Jupiter Jones, is full of
suggestions that don't work/help! May be MVP but didn't
help me at all. Try writing Microsoft direct. This person
will just waste your time!!!

It has finally worked. I think there was a problem with
the servers or something. Tanx 4 all you help.

Shawn;
Did you change anything else?
Or did your computer just finally take it?

To the person writing with "Same Problem". I, too, feel
that "Jupiter Jones is trouble. I went here to Post a
message to everyone that I had contacted Microsoft and
was told that the Site was being repaired, due to the
first posting about the "Blaster" worm. When I suggested
that people try writing Microsoft, "Jones" came back with
a Posting that was very insulting, berating and
degrading, indicating that "it had to be something on my
end" and not a problem with the Update Site, even though
Microsoft told me it was a Site problem. What a hypocrite!
All I was trying to do was offer help and constructive
advice but this person chose to belittle and become
confrontageous, yet he claims you're being this way. I
stated that we should contact Microsoft and said that
they were very polite, honest and helpful and to
please "be nice". For that, I was ridiculed and all but
called an idiot and liar. Good for you! Might I suggest
writing the MVP Support Group and filing a
complaint? "God-Head" attitudes have no place where
people are just trying to be helpful to one another! Best
wishes and good luck.
