- turning off update reminders

I am using Windows 98 and almost every day I get a message
to check for program updates. How can I turn off this
reminder? I have already installed the updates I want and
I would prefer to check on my own rather than being
annoyed by this reminder - it makes me stop what I'm doing
to acknowlege it's receipt, which just wastes my time

I have xp and what I did was to rt click on "my
computer"/select "properties"/automatic updates.In this
dialog box I unchecked the appropiate box.

Uninstall Critical Update Notification should do it.
