Unable to remove Virus MIME.gen.c
Posted by H Lee on December 29th, 2003

Thanks Jupiter for your advice which I did follow.

However, the MIME.gen.c virus is still there after I
download the DAT Version 4.0.4311. I did the SCAN from
Command Prompt and tried the two methods below:

1) C:\SCAN\SCAN/ADL/CLEAN/ALL/REPORT REPORT.TXT and also
2) C:\SCAN\SCAN/ADL/DEL/ALL/REPORT REPORT.TXT

SCAN Did not find any infected files, so did not either
clean or delete it.

Also tried Temp Clearing, Start-Run, then %temp% and
unable to delete one file. It said "It is being used by
another person or progrom." That is perhaps the virus
exe file.

Jupiter, please help me. I was caught by this virus
since summer. My McAfee anti-virus can detect it and
said there are a lot of unwanted program but unable to
clean it, only quarantine it and then delete it but it
comes back again and again whenever I go to email
system. People did not want to look at my email because
they know my computer is infected and I looked like a
sick people with infected disease.

Also about unable to update the critical update of Window
XP SP 1, I did at one time, install an anti-spy software
for XP which I don't remember the name of the software at
all after reading a newspaper and did whatever they
recommend me to do so so that Microsoft cannot get my
information without my knowledge. Is that the XP-Antispy
software you are talking about?? You advise to do
Start-Run and run regsvr32 licdll.dll and also
Start-Run and run regsvr32 regwiz.dll

Is my understanding correct to do so before install the
new update. I can download but unable to install and all
windows closed when extracting the files.

Can you or anyone please please help me?

Tks.

H.
