I receive this message when trying to process Windows
updates "Network policy settings prevent you from using
Windows Update to download and
install updates on your computer". The computer on which
I get this message is running 98OS. Any suggestsions
please?

Are you running Norton Internet Security? If so try temporarily disabling
NIS.
Or you may want to perform a clean boot to eliminate nay other programs form
intercepting the process.
