Uninstall Automatic Updates
Posted by Deb on August 24th, 2003

A Wizzard to do Windows Updates automatically appeared
after manually updating via the web site. Believing it to
be a good thing, I set it up to do automatic updates, but
now want to disable this feature and go back to doing it
manually. Cannot find way to disable or uninstall. Any
suggestions? The downloads are coming up whenever they
feel like it are very inconvenient. (Clicking on the
update icon the apears at bottom right does not work).

Thanks

Deb --

You can easily turn-off Automatic Update notifications by
right-clicking MY COMPUTER and selecting:
Properties > Automatic Updates, uncheck "Keep my computer
up to date...." and click "apply".

Deb,

Windows XP has a great "Help & Support" feature. Use it and search for the
keywords "Automatic Update" and take it from there.
