- Update 819696 doesn't take

I have downloaded and tried to install Windows Update
819696 (DirectX security update) several times and it
indicates it has been successfully installed. The auto
update then comes up and says I need to install this same
update or when I run a scan on Windows update it says it
needs to be installed.
I have Windows XP Pro.
Anyone have any idea what's up with this update?

Try this workaround and install/reinstall DirectX 9.0b manually from:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
