- update locks up
- Posted by Wil on February 8th, 2004
Hi I'm running windows 98 and explorer 6.
on start-up I get a message saying that there is a
critical update for installation.
I get to "windows update is looking for available updates"
and it hangs at 0%.
Nothing happens. I have tried it with the HTTP 1.1
settings in all configurations as suggested in help.
Can sombody please help it seems from reading here that a
few others are having a similar problem.
Cheers Wil

Try the following:
Install the latest scripting engine 5.6 from:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...ist/webdev.asp
This can also happened if an installed program is intercepting the Windows
Update process.
Here's a knowledge base article with a list of some known programs:
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;241234
For testing purposes you may try temporarily disabling any web
enhancement/accelerator/Antivirus programs before accessing the site.
