My problem is simular to a previous message but instead
of only one critical update being shown as successfully
installed I have multiple updates that have been
installed successfully still showing they need to be
installed when I run update for my XP. I have just
recovered from an error with my isp and lost all previous
updates, but solved problem yesterday and need to
reinstall all updates including service pack 1 which I
have done numerous times this morning and each time I run
update after a successfull service pack update( is said
to be in the download history) it keeps showing I need to
download this installation. Out of 44 updates when I
first started this morning I have only 21 more to do but
each time I do install these Update says they were
installed but when I run update it states that they need
to be installed. I hope I was clear as to the problem
and someone can help

Which updates are you referring to?
You can also try installing the updates from:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/security/current.aspx
