I use Windows XP Professional SP1. Each time I have gone to Windows
Update site, this update is available for downloading. I have
installed it twice. I installed it once on a Windows 98, Second
Edition computer, but I have not checked whether it still shows up
for that computer.

I have installed this update more than 5 times now. There is no error and
the Installation History shows this update as successfully installed.

Why does this update keep appearing in the list of Recommended Updates
despite this??

How can I resolve please?

I tried a different method and it worked.

I saved the download to my PC and ran the installer from there. This update
no longer reappears in Windows Update.

That's what I did with the Windows ME (I erroneously said Windows 98
SE in my earlier message.) computer since it was not turned on at
the time and I did not wanted have to start it just to do the
download. The Windows ME computer has not found the update again.

I'll try it and see what happens.
