- updater won't work
- Posted by msnews.microsoft.com on March 6th, 2004
I just got through with getting rid of the W32/BAGLE.J@MM virus on my
computer, but when I try to run Windows update it won't work. Is there
some way I can get it enabled again? I am running Windows ME>

I tried the windows update trouble shooter site as well as many of the
other suggestions other people have posted, but nothing worked. I ended
up enabling the Automatic Updater, does this give me the same amount of
protection? It appears to be working. It asked for acceptance of
terms, and it has caused Zone Alarm to come up 3 times to ask my
permission. The first two times Zone Alarm shows that it is a new
program the 3rd time it shows a changed program.

At this point I don't think the automatic updater is doing it's job
either. My latest update is for October 16, 2003 and it appears I am
missing the security update for Cumulative Security Update for Internet
Explorer Service Pack 1 KB832894, dated February 2, 2004. This I get
by comparing notes with my brother. Not unless he has a different
version of I.E. than I do.
