UPDATES on Different Computers
Posted by paul on October 29th, 2003

Hey, a question! If I have two new XPs on the same email
account, does the Microsoft system keep track of each
individual machine's update status? (Meaning, if I
update Machine #1, does Microsoft now treat Machine #2 as
if it also received the update?)
Thanks!

Microsoft does not send updates by Email.
If you installed something based off an email, you have become infected with
at least one virus.

- Update or install a reliable antivirus software and scan yours system.
Keep that updated.
- Download, Install, update and run Lavasoft AdAware and Spybot Search and
Destroy and kill off all the spyware/adware you have.
- Turn on your ICF and/or download, install and properly configure another
firewall application.
- Download, install and properly configure a spam filtering application like
SpamBayes.
- Keep your machine patched by visiting http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/
frequently and scanning for and installing critical updates.

Good Luck!

BTW - I noticed you gave your email (it looks real enough) - if so, expect
some spam increase in your inbox. Some may look like they are from
Microsoft, 99% of them will not be.. Never install patches unless you
downloaded them from a reliable source.

Paul;
Email address is not relevant.
Microsoft does not track in any form which updates are installed on
your computer.
When you connect to Windows Update, the site then compares the updates
installed on the particular computer with what is available.
No data is maintained at Microsoft.
