- usb ports
- Posted by fred on August 17th, 2003
I have an ancient computer...233 mhz Pack Bell.
I recently bought a lexmark printer for it.
Seems I needed a usb cable.
No big deal.
I figured out that my computer was not recognising usb,
But I obviously have ports for it.
I keep trying to install printer, but my computer does not
seem to detect it. If I try to print, I get a message
telling me about a "communication" problem.
In going through all the screens, I found the place that
lists ports. I had the ltp1 highlighted, but I assume this
is the old type plug in. I cannot find a way to add a usb
port to my choices, and if I just type usb....I can't
configure it.
Just a little help please.
Do I have a chance or should I just return the printer and
try to find the old kind?

What OS are you running? If it's Win95, it does not support usb. Tried the
same thing myself back in my uninformed days. If you can find still find a
copy of Win98se and install it, you'll be in business.
