Hi Paul ,
You cite : http://Lindows.COM/
Lindows appears to be located in San Diego ,
I thought it was a German company
that was supplying the Linux OS to Wal-Mart .

You are thinking of Suse.
They now are partners with WalMart as well.
WalMart offers several flavors of Linux:
1) Lycoris ( Redmond based Linux company, located in the shadow of MS,
www.lycoris.com ).
2) Lindows
3) Suse.
They used to offer Mandrake, but that relationship seems to have been
scrapped.
FYI -- There was recently an article in my local newspaper,
www.kingcountyjournal.com, I don't think it's on their website, but it
was in the business section and it was about Linux. Anyway, they
had a quote from a wal*mart spokesman about how Lycoris was
selling -- while he didn't reveal numbers, he said it was selling
'extremely well'.

Some computers they sell have SuSE linux installed. SuSE, IIRC, started
up in Germany but now has offices all over.

Hi Antonio ,
You say :
" WalMart offers several flavors of Linux . "
A search for " Linux " at WalMart. COM :
http://www.walmart.com/catalog/searc...3&Continue.y=0
Shows three nearly identical boxes .
( All of which are only available on line . )
One is Lycoris , 200 dollars .
Another has no OS , it's also 200 dollars .
The third has XP and an extra 20 GigaBytes of HD , same RAM ,
for 308 dollars .
So XP will cost you an extra 108 dollars .

Hi Paul ,
Of Wal-Mart and Germany , You say :
" Some computers they sell have SuSE linux installed . "
But is Antonio Bailo really Howard Dean or Colonel Klink ?
