Windows Updates do not reside in memory (RAM) (in their entirety). As a
result of running them your operating system (Windows) may use more ram, it
may also use less ram (due to changes these patches make in the way Windows
works). The patches are, however, usually stored on your hard drive. On most
computers nowadays the hard disk space requirement of windows updates is
very little and hardly worth worrying about..
