I tried to run update on a friend's computer. He has
Windows 98 SE loaded and Windows Update scans for
upfrades then returns the error message that you need to
be logged in as Administrator in ordeer to ren the
update. As far as I know Windows 98 does not have an
Administrator profile or login. The error message tells
how to log in as administrator for XP and W2K but offers
no help for W98. I tried a search and cannot find any
posts with this problem.

although the responses so far have not enabled me to
resolve it, they may help you - certainly worth a look! If
