Windows 98 SE Help Files
Posted by Scott Helzer on July 22nd, 2003

I purchased an "oem" computer on which was installed
Windows 98 SE approximately two (2) years ago.

Problem:
Not all standard Microsoft program help files (such as
for "Wordpad.exe") display when I press "F1" within the
program.

Within the effected programs I get the message "...this
file not for displaying...". When I try to initialize
the "search" capabilities I get the message "...unable to
find Tab 177...".

Within the directory "c:\windows\help" there is a help
file for all of the programs; however, it is named
[program]".chm".

Question:
How do I get the standard Microsot programs to display the
help files "*.chm".

Not a super major problem, but... very irating!!!.

Any thoughts would be extremely appreciated, by anyone.

Sincerely,
