- windows update IE 6.0 setup fails repeatedly
- Posted by Callie Jordan on July 21st, 2003
Windows Update says that IE 6 is a critical update, but it
won't install. Setup says "components failed to install"
and offers to resume setup every time I restart the
computer. However, it never works to resume, nor to start
over. I still have 5.5
Which I'd decided to just live with, but I had some
messages about GUI.EXE that needed to be fixed by
repairing IE once before when it happened. However, there
IS NO Internet Explorer on my Add/Remove Programs any more.
So I tried to reinstall IE 5 and was unable to do that
either.
The Windows Update.log file has every item as "successful".
Any more ideas?
Thanks.
