An online pest scan told me i had a browser helper boject
in my downloaded prog. files folder. Not seeing the file,
i deleted some files with funny names, and now windows
update wont work, please help.

Try System Restore to a date/time before issue started:
Start/All Programs/Accessories/System Tools/System Restore.

In the future do not delete a file unless you are absolutely sure of
its purpose.
"funny names" describes half the Windows files so that is a bad
indicator.
