Windows update stops before it finishes, Update Log file doesn't
report any errors. What's causing it?

We need more info. Before it finishes....? Scan process? Downloading?
Installing?
What operating system? Post the last few lines of the log file, although
there's no error
message we can determine where in the process Windows Update is failing.

You may also want to perform a clean boot before you access Windows Update.
Some programs are know to intercept the process.

Hi,

Make sure the following files are registered correctly by following the
steps below.

NOTE: You may not have all the files listed in the steps below, but please
attempt all the steps. If a file is missing, you will see a popup window
with this text: LoadLibrary("filename.dll") failed - The specified module
could not be found.(for XP and W2K operating systems)
or
LoadLibrary("filename.dll") failed - GetLastError returns 0x00000485 (for
Millennium and W98 operating systems)
Just disregard the error and continue to the next step.

1. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 MSSCRIPT.OCX" (w/o the quotes).
You should see a popup message that this process succeeded. Click OK
2. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 DISPEX.DLL" (w/o the quotes). You
should see a popup message that this process succeeded. Click OK
3. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 VBSCRIPT.DLL" (w/o the quotes).
You should see a popup message that this process succeeded. Click OK
4. Click on Start, Run and type "REGSVR32 SCRRUN.DLL" (w/o the quotes). You
should see a popup message that this process succeeded. Click OK

Now try the Windows Update site and see if the problem is resolved.
