- Windows Update stops at the "downloading" bit - found fixes don't work
- Posted by Mark Hanford on November 21st, 2003
One of our W2Ksp4 servers is unable to be updated via the Windows Update
website.
I can go to the site, scan for updates, review and click install, the
license aggreement pops up and I can okay that, but then the "downloading"
screen appears but there's never any progress.
The fixes I found on MS and the web that suggested re-registering a few
dll's (I can't remember the exact list) and also checking 2 registry
settings but that didn't help.
Incidentally, the link at the top of the start bar doesn't do anything at
all - click, flash of egg timer, then nothing.
Any suggestions would be welcome, as it's a pain having to manually apply
the patches...
thanks,
Mark Hanford
