Hi
I have the same problem, I have downloaded all updates
and the patch and they show in my temp folder as being
downloaded. However, even clicking on them and trying to
install them manually the Wizrd comes up - says "checking
configuration" and then it hangs/freezes, no progress on
the bar at all. I waited 4 hours - nothing. I went to
the Crypto site and followed all directions - still won't
install. I also followed a lot of the recommendations
here ref resetting regsvrdll etc - nothing. When I go
the Windows upadate site the downloads show as FAILED. I
just don't know what to do next. How can one update
regularly and try to protect themsleves if they can't
install the updates??? Any help to correct this would be
greatly appreciated, thanks :-)

Hello Jim,
Try using Internet Explorer instead of the AOL browser when accessing the
Windows Update site. Follow these steps:
1. Log into AOL.
2. Minimize the AOL browser.
3. Launch Internet Explorer and got to Windows Update.

Have had the same type of problem with some although not all W2K
systems. "Download progress" goes to 100%, "install progress" starts,
is very very slow, and then at some point freezes up. No indication
why.
