I have looked all over to see if I could find if i have
the service pack 1a and cannot find it in add/remove
programs, search, installation history. Could you tell me
how to find it so I will know if I should install it?

thanks so much,
Sue

If you visit the WindowsUpdate website, do a scan of your
computer it will be listed as a Critical Update if it is
required by your computer.

If you have Java support (which you didn't specifically install yourself)
you shouldn't install XPsp1a. Then you will already have XPsp1.

Can you Run... wjview

What does winver show?

msinfo32 /category SystemSummary

also contains version information. Click on the line labeled Version
and use the Edit Copy menu to capture it if you need to.

You can display the equivalent IE information with its Help About
menu item. I don't know how to capture it easily but it seems that
its and winver's displays are related somehow.
