- Windows XP update downloading but not updating

I tried installing the recent security patches from
the 'Windows Update' site. It downloads the files for
updating but it never updates: the Web Page Dialod
says: 'Download complete. Preparing to install', and it
remains on the screen forever (or till I get fed up and
close it...).

Ginette,
Can you please go to your windows directory (usually c:\windows) and post
the last 10 to 15 lines of your 'Windows Update.log' ? It will allow me to
find out why you are having problems with Windows Update.
