Windows XP Updates
Posted by Stu on August 19th, 2003

Been trying for a few days now to do updates under Windows
XP Pro, and every single one of them fails, on all 4 PC's.
Tried the various things listed so far, none have worked,
anyone gotten anything to work yet!?

Hi Stu - Make the following changes and then try your downloads again.

The following is courtesy of Maurice Naggar, MVP and Kelly, MVP (slightly
modified by me):

First, be sure that your Date and Time including Zone are set correctly,
Then,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 wintrust.dll (from Kelly)

Then: Here's the whole spiel for Trusted Sites in IE.

Internet Explorer > main menu /Tools/Internet Options >

Security Tab/ click on green icon Trusted Sites/click Sites button.
Click "Require server verification (https for all sites in this zone" to
clear the
selection.

In the "Add this Web site to the zone:" field, add these entries to list of
"Trusted Sites"
